Our Management Team

Our multi-disciplinary management team, mainly consisting of the de Silva family, is a great mix of experience and dynamism with deep roots in the rubber industry in Sri Lanka, and is ideally equipped to lead a rubber mat and sheet manufacturer.

Mr. J. B. L. de Silva (LL.B., Attorney-at-law)


A lawyer by profession, Mr. de Silva has over 40 years’ experience in the corporate world. He has held the office of Chairman of Eastern Merchants PLC, the parent company of Microcells, since 1983. He presently serves as a Director of CT Holdings PLC, one of the biggest conglomerates in Sri Lanka. He has held numerous leadership roles in various organizations and served in several boards throughout his long and illustrious career.

Mr. H. J. de Silva (B.Sc)

Deputy Chairman

The first of the 3rd generation of the founding family of Eastern Merchants PLC to join the business, bringing with him 15 years of corporate experience. He is responsible for the trading of agricultural commodities including natural rubber, along with supply chain optimization for the Group companies. An active member and participant in industry organizations, Mr. de Silva is currently the Chairman of the Exporters Association of Sri Lanka.

Mr. C. S. L. de Silva (B.Econ., M.com.)

Managing Director

Mr. de Silva was named Managing Director of Eastern Merchants PLC in 2015. He has over 12 years’ experience in the corporate world both in Sri Lanka and Australia. The second of the 3rd generation of the founding family to join the business, Mr. de Silva is responsible for the overall strategy and operations of the Eastern Merchants PLC group.

Mr. S. Jayakody (B.Com.Spl., FCA, FCMA)

Finance Director

A Fellow Member of the Institute of Charted Accountants in Sri Lanka, Mr. Jayakody has over 25 years’ experience in the corporate world. He is responsible for optimizing the Eastern Merchants PLC Group’s financial performance through the implementation of strategic financial and accounting policies. He has served as a Board member at Eastern Merchants PLC since 1999.

Mrs. G. R. J. de Silva (B.Econ., M.com.)


Mrs. de Silva has over 12 years of consulting and strategic analysis experience in various industries in both Sri Lanka and Australia. She has been with Eastern Merchants PLC for the last 3 years and is responsible for the Group’s human resource management and strategic planning functions.
